A new building for the church in Rimouski
God answered the fervent prayers of the French church in Rimouski and gave this congregation a wonderful miracle. After years of meeting in less than ideal rented facilities, the believers are overjoyed to finally have a place of their own. In recent years, the church had to vacate its rented Sunday school space for several weeks each summer to make room for an agricultural and cattle exposition.

The new building is a former sports store located on the main highway through Rimouski (population 40,000). The building is now completely renovated into attractive and practical church facilities. The auditorium on the ground floor can welcome 150-175 worshippers, and the basement houses classrooms and a church hall.

The church in Rimouski was invigorated by the arrival of Pastor Claude Beaulieu and his family in January 2005. Since then, a daughter-church was started in Rivière-du-Loup with Hugo Éthier, and Claude also oversees other groups meeting in outlying villages.

The believers in Rimouski had many months of uncertainty during the course of their building project. In the end, they saw the Lord answer their prayers when city officials miraculously reversed a decision and changed the store’s commercial status into zoning for a church. The purchase and renovation of the building was made possible through the sacrificial giving of the church family, funds from Project 2006, plus special gifts from several churches and major donors.
