Jacques became the pastor of the French church in Mont-Laurier in 1984. Under Jacques' leadership, the congregation purchased a house that was enlarged and remodelled into a church. There is an auditorium on the lower level and a nursery and Sunday school classrooms on the upper level.
Jacques was involved in starting a new church in the town of l'Annonciation, 35 km south of Mont-Laurier. This church began with just one couple. Jacques visited them and conducted weekly Bible studies in their home. Over time other people joined and the group grew. Sunday meetings began in l’Annonciation in March 1993. Jacques and two other men took turns ministering to the congregation. On June 5, 1994, a group of 21 founding members officially organized to form a church. Réal Goulet was called as pastor and an official recognition service took place on October 22, 1994.
Jacques has served on several regional committees and ministries, including a time as president of Aujourd'hui l'Espoir.

| Spiritual
Background: |
During the summer of 1973 Jacques was discouraged and depressed as he tried to make sense of life in this world. One day he met a Christian friend who presented the gospel to him and also explained that it is because people keep God out of their lives that things are going badly in the world. He gave Jacques a Bible.
Early in October that same year, Jacques went to British Colombia. It was there that God revealed Himself to him. Jacques understood that he was a sinner and he accepted Christ as his Saviour.

Experience: |
When Jacques returned to Quebec, he joined a Baptist church and began to grow spiritually. He was drawn to ministry and felt God's call. He began by working as a pastor-in-training in the Gatineau church and he took theological training with SEMBEQ to become better equipped for ministry. Over the years he has worked closely with SEMBEQ in several capacities: tutor, teacher and coordinator of practical work-study programs.
