Background: |
Both David and Ruth had the privilege of growing up in loving Christian homes. David has one brother, Bob. Ruth has two brothers, Bill and Dan, and a sister, Lois. David grew up going to church with his parents, Ron and Lillian Dobson, who were active members of Calvary Baptist Church in Woodbridge, Ontario.
Ruth attended Metropolitan Bible Church in Ottawa with her family. Her parents, Bert and Eileen Cavey, were involved as lay leaders in that church. The lives of both Dave and Ruth were profoundly impacted by the spiritual example of their parents.
As children, both Dave and Ruth came to the clear realization that they were sinners. They understood that Jesus Christ had died for their sins, and they needed Him to save them and give them the gift of eternal life. They both repented of their sins and turned to the Lord as children. During their late teen years, both chose to go to Bible school. While at Ontario Bible College in Toronto, they met, fell in love and were married in 1969. God blessed them with two sons, David (1973) and Jonathan (1978).
At the beginning of their marriage, Ruth and Dave committed their lives to serving the Lord Jesus Christ and following His leading in full-time Christian service. Through the years, God has led them across Canada from coast to coast, and given them a special love for the province of Quebec.

| Ministry
Experience: |
Prior to their current roles with the Fellowship French Mission, the Dobsons served in three pastoral ministries in the three largest Canadian provinces. Those ministries included West Island Baptist Church, Dorval, Quebec (1971-1978); Elliott Heights Baptist Church, Hamilton, Ontario (1978-1988); and Ladner Baptist Church in Delta, British Columbia (1988-97). Their trans-Canada ministry experience has been an enormous help and blessing to them in Dave's current leadership role with the Fellowship French Mission. Ruth gained relevant experience while in BC, serving in a secretarial role at NAIM (North America Indian Mission) from 1988-1997.
