In February 2001, Yves and Lise Décary accepted a call to re-plant a church in Sorel-Tracy. Sadly, this church had been without a pastor for 3 years and had experienced a division. Yves began by working with the church to develop a mission statement and to set precise short and long-term goals.

Background: |
"Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life" John 6:68. This verse echoes Yves' thoughts and has become his life verse.
Yves grew up in an observant Catholic home. His mother started teaching him about the life of Jesus when he was quite young but she did not tell him about the plan of salvation. He abandoned religious practices as a teenager and turned toward science and parapsychology.
At the beginning of 1981, Yves went into a bookstore with the intention of buying a book on positive thinking but instead he came out with a Catholic translation of the Bible. He read Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus before turning to the New Testament. He read it completely twice, but read all four Gospels three times. He felt convicted and saw himself as a sinner in need of a Saviour.
Yves gave his life to the Lord on June 14, 1981 when he visited the French Baptist church in Ahuntsic for the second time. Not long after that decision, he became convinced that the Lord was calling him to full-time ministry. His wife, Lise, accepted Jesus when Yves was in the waters of baptism on September 20, 1981.

Experience: |
While studying with SEMBEQ, Yves served in different ministries at the Ahuntsic church. Later he became a founding member of the Emmanuel church (a daughter work of the Ahuntsic church) where he became a servant-in-training. Finally in November 1993, Yves left his secular job to answer the call of the Emmanuel church to start a daughter work in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region west of the island of Montreal.
The first Sunday morning service was held on January 14, 1995, with 48 people in attendance. Two years later, the Lord responded to their prayers and gave them their own building. They were able to purchase the 10,000 square foot building situated in the center of the town of Vaudreuil-Dorion for an amount inferior to the price of the land.
Lise suffered a life-threatening heart attack on December 24, 1999. Since she is severely diabetic, she had serious complications and was hospitalized for almost a year. In order to take care of his wife and his own health, Yves resigned as pastor from the church in Vaudreuil.
